Your Guide to Buenos Aires Festivals

Buenos Aires is overflowing with festivals! Here you’ll find something for all interests, from jazz and tango to electronic music and film! Check out eight of the top festivals in Buenos Aires here:

1 – Lollapalooza Argentina  

March 27th, 28th, 29th in 2020 @ Hipódromo de San Isidro

Argentina is one of 6 countries to host Lollapalooza, the festival with something for everyone, regardless of your taste in music! Past year’s headliners include: the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Chance the Rapper, The Killers, Lana del Rey, LCD Soundsystem and David Byrne. Info and tickets here!

2 – BAFICI International Film Festival

 Every April

BAFICI, the Buenos Aires International Festival of Independent Cinema takes place every April offering international premieres, screenings, talks and presentations throughout the city, and competitions in various categories. More information here.

3 – Soundhearts Festival

Soundhearts Festival’s past headliners have been Radiohead, Flying Lotus, Junun and Rocco Posca. Information here.

4 – Buenos Aires International Book Fair

 April 21 – May 11, 2020

40 Feria del Libro de Buenos Aires, 10 de mayo de 2014. Fotos Andres Perez Moreno.

La Feria del Libro, Buenos Aires’ international book fair, attracts more than a million people every April/May to browse publishers’ stands and attend talks and interviews with distinguished authors.

The featured authors of the 46th edition taking place in 2020 have not yet been released. For more information, visit the Feria del Libro website.

5 – International Tango Festival

Every August thousands of dancers and fans of tango music converge on Buenos Aires, the birthplace of tango, for a two-week extravaganza of free concerts, classes, milongas, and other events. Info here.

6 – Ciudad Emergente Festival

Ciudad Emergente presents the best and latest of the city’s up-and-coming young talent, covering everything from alternative rock and electronic music to photography, film, stand-up comedy, poetry, and dance.

7 – BA International Jazz Festival

Everything from classic bebop, to jazz fusion, swing and nuevo tango is celebrated at the annual BA International Jazz Festival. The Festival’s been going since 2008 and hosts some of the best international talent as well as welcoming home many local artists who live abroad. Many events are free of charge. Info.

8 – Festival Bue

Dates TBD (in 2017 it was held in December)

Creamfields (Montevideo, Uruguay)

Creamfields is an international dance & electronic music festival. (In case you needed a good excuse to get away to Uruguay for a weekend!) Info and tickets here!
