Charlie from Australia joined us in 2019 for our Tango Program and Intensive Spanish. Here is his story…
I chose to participate in a Mente Argentina Tango and Spanish programme to explore the traditions and elegance of a dance that has captured my interest. I have also begun to learn Spanish and would love to be around others who are learning and speaking Spanish to give myself the best chance to absorb and become proficient in the language.
I love all types of dance and wish to explore and develop a deeper understanding of Tango as well as the rich culture from which it originated. Through a mutual love of dance, I have been able to connect with other people and I would love to be in an environment with others who love Tango to bond over what the dance means to them. I felt that the experience of learning within another culture would help me to further grow as a person.
While I have been learning American ballroom for 3 years, including a variety of Latin dances, I am enthusiastic about expanding my knowledge of Argentine Tango. I would love to be able to teach the dance in my home country while passing on the old traditions to keep the love of Tango alive. I enjoy learning the technical aspects of Tango and its diversity and wish to demonstrate this passion through performances to entertain and inspire others to love this dance as much as I do.
