Mike from Bermuda joined us in 2019 for our Cooking Program. Here is his story…
The first dream I had for what I wanted to do when I grew up was to be a chef and open my own restaurant. This dream has been deferred for many years in lieu of worker as an investment banker, political research analyst and more recently a project manager. I now have the opportunity to reconnect with my childhood dream of opening up my own restaurant so this course will be a great introduction of what I may be getting myself into. Aside from this, I have always enjoyed cooking and I expect that I will be able to put these skills to good use in my own personal life as well.
I am quite comfortable living and working in a foreign environment, having lived and worked in many cities throughout the US, Hong Kong and London. I am also an avid traveler and enjoy being exposed to new people, ideas and cultures.
One of the most enjoyable experiences I had in recent years while traveling occurred in Italy where I did an excursion to a local restaurant where I learned how to make pizza from scratch. I put those skills to work back home with some success and look forward to becoming a master of Argentine cuisine.
The Mente Argentina program provides excellent training in a cuisine I have yet to fully experience, an opportunity to meet new people and build friendships and learn about Argentina’s history and culture in an unforgettable way.
