Lorena from the U.S. joined us in 2019 for our Internship Program. Here is her story…
The Mente internship had a variety of positions that I was interested in pursuing such as business consulting, sustainable development and marketing sales. In the future, I hope to work in logistics. I aspire to lead a team, to ensure that products satisfy the needs of clients from the point of origin to their doorstep. My job will involve materials handling, production and packaging inventory, transportation, warehousing and even security. I hoped to gain valuable experience that I will be able to apply in a management position in the future. The internship position challenged my ability to solve complex problems, and to think creatively for ways to improve the operational health of the client’s organization.
Both the organizations I have been involved with and my current internship have required me to adapt to a new business environment quickly. This has honed my ability to work with different people and my resilience in conducting independent research to be able to meet deadlines. I also possess strong verbal communication skills both in English and Spanish, as a result of translating, editing and drafting document both in class and outside of my university. I am a self-started individual who is capable of managing time efficiently, multitasking, conducting in-depth federal policy research, negotiating and collaborating with others.
My experience working in bi-national affairs will enable me to adapt to a foreign environment quickly. I am a determined person who was the willingness to excel at anything I aspire to do. I enjoy the opportunity of working in a multinational environment to be able to lead people to complete tasks and meet goals for a company.
