Why do a Masters Degree in International Relations in Buenos Aires with Mente Argentina – Luca, Italy

Luca from Italy joined us in 2018 for a Masters Degree in International Relations. Here is his story…

I will never forget the moment I finally realized where I see myself in the foreseeable future. Deep down I have always known what direction I should take in life. Since I was a child my mind and spirit were telling me that a word was going to be part of my life forever, that word was ‘Empathy’; the ability to understand and share the feelings of another. Thereafter it became my concept of relation with the others.

During high school geography, history, philosophy and foreign languages were my favorite subjects.  Combining them all together I realized that Politics, sociology and International Relations were subjects that really appeal to me. My perception of Politics changed when I read the Communist Manifesto and I began to see the world not as a collection of states but rather a universal society that although it was divided by relative beliefs, it had one global direction and purpose. As soon as I graduated in Political Science I felt the time for experiences had come.

I have traveled and worked abroad for four years in different countries including the United States, England, Australia and East Asia where I improved my English skills, analyzing the cultures I have been into and the social structure of them all. That is why I felt I was ready now to start a new chapter of my life by advancing my studies with a Master degree in International Relations.

Generally, International Relations examine the relationship between countries and policies that are formulated. However, what I study is not just how the policies are formed but the moral, the principles and the history behind them and why they are successful or unsuccessful in society. Studying sociology has enabled me to look at the sociological prospective of International Relation and also to compare any theories and political ideologies.

Another important reason why I value this opportunity is the possibility to study in a different cultural and social environment, in such amazing city as Buenos Aires and at one of the most prestigious university of Latin America. My goal is to achieve the right academic qualification and personal experience in order to pursue my dream, which is to work for something I truly believe in.
