Weekend Highlights: January 10-12

It’s the second weekend of the decade! As we mentioned last week, the month of January in Buenos Aires is a little complicado given most porteños take advantage of the warm weather and go on vacation! It’s also an amazing time to experience the wonders of the city without the grief of what sometimes seems like seas of people in the streets and parks. In addition to the weekend highlights, we would like to offer an interesting activity for all of you to try during the week (or weekend)- going to see una película en el cine!

The Argentine film industry is one of the most developed in all of Latin America, along with that of Mexico and Brazil, and remains one of the major film industries in the Spanish-speaking world. Argentina is the most awarded country for its cinema, winning Academy Awards for films The Official Story (1985) and The Secret in Their Eyes (2009). Where can you see the latest and greatest movies WHILE practicing your listening comprehension skills in Spanish? We thought you would never ask!

The Cine Gaumont is a movie theater that shows only national films. It is located in Congreso at Av. Rivadavia 1635. Check out the cartelera, or movie listing in English, to watch trailers and get showtimes.

Below are the selected events for this weekend’s highlights.
