Los Gatos is a 1960’s Argentine rock band that originated in our neighboring city, Rosario. Although they were only an active band, excluding their 2007 reunion tour, for a mere 3 years, their music was an important component in the foundation of Argentine rock. Los Gatos produced primarily psychadelic rock but are considered to have recorded some of the first progressive rock songs ever as a result of its members distinct and technical musical styles. Like most key players in the Argentine rock movement, Los Gatos played at La Cueva and hung around at La Perla chatting and making music, often times until the wee hours of the morning. In 1968 the band gained international fame by touring around South America, through Paraguay, Bolivia, Uruguay, and Brazil. Unfortunately the group split in 1970 breaking off into several solo projects.
