Anidra from Canada joined us in 2019 for our Internship Program where she worked at a local law firm. Here is her story…
From a very young age, I have always known what I wanted and who I want to be in the future. I was born here in Canada but moved to Ghana, West Africa when I was 5 years old to learn the culture and language of my forefathers; to go back to my roots and I stayed there for 12 years. That ‘experience’ as some may call it, was bittersweet at that time. Now, looking back at who I am today, I would say that journey I embarked on was more sweet than bitter.
My name is Anidra, a student of International Studies and French. I chose to study international studies because I wanted a better understanding of global issues and I have always been interested in learning about countries. In my 3rd year, I decided to start taking more philosophy and law related courses and it was the best thing I had ever done. As challenging as it was, I gained knowledge in international law, public law and other areas in the legal field. Therefore, I chose to intern in the legal field.
Taking part in a Mente Argentina programme aligns with my long-term professional and academic goals because it taught me the hands on skills I need to know in order to become a successful lawyer and/or human rights advocate. I always have a positive attitude and I am very passionate when it comes to learning new things. I have lived in a foreign environment before and adapted very well to it because I am open minded and I love meeting new people as well as learning about different cultures. I am very determined; once I set my mind to something, I will never give up and I hope I get the opportunity to show your team how I eager I am to be a part of it.
